Firestone Diamonds Recovers 70 Carat White Diamond In Lesotho

12th Feb 2019 10:52

LONDON (Alliance News) - Firestone Diamonds PLC said Tuesday it recovered a 70 carat white diamond from its Liqhobong mine in Lesotho.

Shares in the diamond miner were up 8.3% at 2.92 pence each.

Firestone said the diamond was recovered undamaged and will go on sale in March. At a recently held sale, a 46 carat gem diamond sold for more than USD1 million.

"The 70 carat stone was recovered in the northern, low grade part of the pit where the bulk of our mining will take place in the coming months. Although the market for the smaller stones has been under pressure, we've seen continued demand and good prices realised for special stones," said Chief Executive Paul Bosma.
