FireAngel Secures European Patent For Fire Predictor Product

5th Feb 2020 11:30

(Alliance News) - FireAngel Safety Technology Group PLC on Wednesday said it has been granted a European patent for is FireAngel Predict home safety product.

The FireAngel Predict product, which seeks to prevent and detect fires before they start, was granted the patent by the European Patent Office. The European Patent Office grants patents to companies in the European Union, as well as some countries which are not member states.

Cloud-based FireAngel Predict aims to predict fires by pointing up high-risk scenarios.

FireAngel said: "Following a thorough examination process by the European Patent Office, this patent award gives FireAngel the exclusive right to exploit this technology in Europe. The patent protects the key operating system required to deliver the functionality behind FireAngel Predict, the company's artificial intelligence data analytics technology, which has the potential to avert domestic fires before they start by automatically analysing large amounts of historical data in the cloud."

The company also launched its FireAngel Pro Connect business to business offering.

"The FireAngel Pro Connected gateway connects directly to the FireAngel Pro Connected range of domestic safety products and utilises the unique data analytics provided by FireAngel Predict," the company said.

The product is available on Amazon Inc's online marketplace, as well as Screwfix, owned by Kingfisher PLC, and Travis Perkins PLC's Toolstation.

Executive Chair John Conoley said: "FireAngel Predict is a unique capability in this market. We are pleased to have been granted the European patent for it which opens a whole new market for us to target."

The company also announced a spate of board changes.

Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer Nick Rutter has stepped down from the board with immediate effect, but will remain in his current role, focusing on FireAngel's connected home development products.

Executive Director Graham Whitworth will move to a non-executive role following the release of the company's 2019 results in late-March.

Also, Non-Executive Director Ashley Silverton will step down at the company's annual general meeting, due to take place in late-June.

FireAngel said a search to replace Silverton is underway.

Shares in the company were 7.3% higher at 14.75 pence each in London on Wednesday morning.
