LONDON (Alliance News) - Ferrexpo PLC Friday said pellet production rose in the second quarter and in the first half as the company continues to produce more high-quality pellets.
The iron ore miner operating in Ukraine said total pellet production in the second quarter experienced a small lift to 2.9 million tonnes, bringing total first half production to 5.8 million tonnes, which is up 8.3% from 5.4 million tonnes a year earlier.
The company also produced more higher-quality 65% iron pellets in the first half. Of total production, 65% iron pellets came in at 5.1 million tonnes, up 92.6% year on year from 2.6 million tonnes whilst lower grade 62% iron pellet production fell 72.4% to 756,000 tonnes from 2.7 million tonnes.
Pellet production from third-party material doubled in the first half to 312,770 tonnes from 155,720 tonnes. All of that production was made up of 65% iron pellets.
