Ferrexpo halts operations amid strikes on Ukraine power infrastructure

20th Jan 2026 16:46

(Alliance News) - Ferrexpo PLC on Tuesday said its power supply has been hit again, on more Russian strikes on Ukrainian electricity generation and transmission infrastructure.

The iron ore pellet producer in Ukraine said it has temporarily suspended operations and part of its workforce on furlough "until the supply of electricity can be assured on a sustainable basis in the volumes required".

"There have been further attacks on Ukrainian electricity generation and transmission infrastructure, and the supply of power to the company's operations has once again been affected," the company said on Tuesday.

"There have been no reports of workforce fatalities or injuries and there has been no damage to Ferrexpo's operating assets."

Back in November, it said it had suspended operations at two subsidiaries, following an attack on Ukrainian transmission infrastructure. it said at the time that missiles hit energy transmission targets in Horishni Plavni. Horishni Plavni is a mining city where Ferrexpo is located.

Ferrexpo shares were 13% lower at 62.70 pence in late dealings on Tuesday in London.
