Felix Magath Declines Comment On Report He Bought Rangers Shares

9th Jan 2015 12:13

Berlin (Alliance News) - Felix Magath on Friday did not want to comment on a British news report saying he has bought a 1% stake in Rangers International FC PLC and he may become technical director at the Scottish club.

"I don't want to talk about my share engagement, that is a private affair," the former Fulham manager Magath told dpa.

Magath, 61, confirmed that he was in Glasgow recently and "visited someone" but did not want to comment whether he also held talks there.

The BBC said Magath bought the shares in 2014 and was in talks with one of four groups aiming for control of the financially troubled club.

Rangers are currently second in the second division as rebuilding continues after their 2012 bankruptcy and demotion into the fourth tier.

Magath, who won the European cup in 1983 as SV hamburg player, had to go at Championship side Fulham in September.

He won back-to-back Bundesliga and German cup doubles with Bayern Munich in 2005 and 2006, and another German league title 2009 while in charge of Wolfsburg.
