LONDON (Alliance News) - Feedback PLC on Tuesday said the research arm of NHS England has published an alert on the potential application of the company's TexRAD texture analysis software in assessing patients with lung cancer.
The National Institute for Health Research through its Horizon Scanning Research and Intelligence Centre is an academic unit based at the University of Birmingham which investigates and provides notice on new and emerging medical devices and diagnostics which could be used by the NHS.
"The alert from the NHS's research arm is a significant step towards potentially obtaining NICE approval for TexRAD to be used as a clinical tool for assessing patients with lung cancer," said Balaji Ganeshan, the chief scientist and new business officer for the TexRAD Ltd and Cambridge Computed Imaging Ltd subsidiaries at Feedback.
NICE is the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence and approves medical procedures used by the NHS.
Shares in Feedback were up 18% to 2.80 pence on Tuesday.
