Fastjet Tickets Now Live On Key Systems Used By Travel Agents

23rd Jan 2014 11:00

LONDON (Alliance News) - African low-cost airline fastjet PLC Thursday said it has seen a flurry of bookings after its tickets became available through key distribution systems used by travel agents and operators around the world, including Amadeus, Sabre and Travelport.

The news comes after it signed a deal with Hahn Air Systems earlier this month for its tickets to be made available on that company's e-alliance product.

"Following the successful integration, over 91,000 travel agents and tour operators worldwide can now access the entire fastjet network, either via the airline's dedicated agent portal or through a Global Distribution System of their choice," fastJet said in a statement.

"Since going live on Friday we have already seen a flurry of bookings via the new system, with sales enquiries coming in from as far afield as China, Australia and the United States," Chief Commercial Officer Richard Bodin said,

Fsstjet said bookings via travel agents currently account for about 22% of sales. Like low-cost peers, the airline distributes the cost of sale via third parties in such a way as to ensure that it maintains a low distribution cost.

At the same time as fastJet signed the deal with Hahn Air Systems, it had also announced a deal for its tickets to be available through flight comparison website Skyscanner

Fastjet shares were down 0.9% at 2.78 pence Thursday morning.
