Fastjet Starts Flights On A Fifth Tanzanian Route

1st Nov 2013 10:46

LONDON (Alliance News) - African low-cost airline fastjet PLC Friday said it has started flights to a fifth destination in Tanzania, adding Mbeya to a network that already comprises routes from Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar.

"Network scale is important in terms of offering more choice to our customers and also in terms of covering overhead costs and moving our Tanzanian operations towards profitability," Chief Executive Ed Winter said in a statement.

"As we approach the one year anniversary of the first fastjet flight, the Board is delighted with the strong operational progress we are now making both in Tanzania and elsewhere in southern Africa," he added.

Fastjet shares were up 0.7% at 3.5495 pence Friday morning.
