Fastjet Signs Operating Lease On Airbus A319 Aircraft For Tanzania

27th Aug 2015 07:55

LONDON (Alliance News) - African low-cost airline Fastjet PLC on Thursday said it has signed an operating lease with SMBC Aviation Capital Ltd for an Airbus A319 aircraft.

The plane will start commercial flights in Tanzania on September 1, it said.

The lease adds to the letter of intent Fastjet signed on Wednesday to acquire an Airbus A319 as it looks to expand its service in Zambia.

"Having reached our target figure for utilisation of our existing Tanzanian fleet, we are delighted to introduce an additional aircraft into Tanzania to satisfy the growing demand for our low-cost flights," said Ed Winter, Fastjet's chief executive.

Shares in Fastjet on Thursday were down 0.2% to 96.30 pence.
