LONDON (Alliance News) - African low-cost airline fastjet PLC Friday said it is increasing the number of flights on its Dar es Salaam to Mwanza, and Dar es Salaam to Lusaka routes due to customer demand.
The company said it is adding four new return flights a week on the Dar es Salaam to Mwanza route bringing the total number of return flights each week to 25, with flights scheduled to start on August 1.
Fastjet said that from August 17, it will operate an additional return flight on Sundays from Dar es Salaam to Lusaka bringing its total number of flights linking Tanzania to Zambia to four per week.
Fastjet also said that ticket sales for its new Dar es Salaam to Harare route, due to start operating in August, have been very strong but due to the attendance of a number of senior Zimbabwean dignitaries at the launch of the route, its first flight has been moved to August 5 from August 2.
"Sales on our newest route have far surpassed expectations and only a handful of seats remain for travel to Tanzania from Zimbabwe in August, with this trend continuing well into September bookings. We hope to meet this demand by adding additional flights on this route in due course," Chief Executive Ed Winter said in a statement.
Fastjet shares were up 1.6% to 1.64 pence on Friday.
