Fastjet Gets First Phase Approval For Launch In Zambia

9th Jan 2015 07:53

LONDON (Alliance News) - African low-cost airline Fastjet PLC on Friday said its Zambian arm has received confirmation from the country's Civil Aviation Authority that it has completed the first phase of its application for an air operating certificate.

Fastjet said the completion of the first phase is a key step towards launching its service in Zambia. The next stage will allow Zambian authorities to assess Fastjet Zambia's planned company structure, examine its aircraft and approve its operational plan.

"The process to obtain permission to operate in Zambia is proceeding extremely well. We have an excellent team in Zambia, who are working positively with the local authorities to complete the approval process as efficiently as possible," Ed Winter, Chief Executive Officer and interim Chairman of Fastjet, said.
