Fastjet Adds Second Route From Zimbabwe To South Africa

15th Nov 2019 13:32

(Alliance News) - Fastjet PLC said Friday it has introduced new direct route schedule from Bulawayo in Zimbabwe to Johannesburg in South Africa, starting next month.

The UK and South Africa-based low-cost airline said the new route will begin flying on December 5, with 22 scheduled flights per week, including double-daily frequencies Monday to Friday and a single flight on Sunday.

Fastjet said this new route will complement its Zimbabwe's four times daily return service from its hub in Harare, Zimbabwe, to Johannesburg and will be operated by the airline's Embraer ERJ145 jet.

The airline said this new route schedule will increase its daily flights across the network to 114 flight per week.

Chief Executive Officer Mark Hurst said: "Linking Zimbabwe's second-largest city with Johannesburg twice a day is a significant step."

"We are committed to growing the route and visitor numbers in both directions, and to expanding our overall Zimbabwe network," Hurst added.

Fastjet shares were down 1.8% in London at 1.40 pence each on Friday.
