F&C Investment Trust slightly underperforms benchmark in 2020

10th Mar 2021 09:45

(Alliance News) - F&C Investment Trust PLC on Wednesday said it was marginally behind its benchmark in 2020 despite an increase in net assets.

The FTSE 250-listed investment firm said its share price as at the end of 2020 was 787.0 pence, representing a total return of 4.6%.

F&C Investment Trust shares were trading marginally lower in London on Wednesday morning at 775.00p each.

The company's net asset value total return for 2020 was 12.3%, marginally behind the 12.4% from its benchmark, the FTSE All-World Index.

Net asset value per share as at the end of 2020 stood at 840.69p, up from 757.26p the year prior.

The trust said the listed and private equity holdings posted strong gains during 2020, with those from the North American, Japanese and Europe offsetting underperformance from the Global Strategies and Emerging Markets.

The company declared a final dividend of 3.4p per share, which will bring the total dividend for the year to 12.1p per share. This will be a 4.3% increase on the prior year's distribution.

"Our focus has always been on delivering sustainable growth in capital and income over the longer term. Shareholders can be assured that it will remain so," said Chair Beatrice Hollond.
