EXECUTIVE CHANGES: Oberon Investments continues senior hiring spree

(Alliance News) - The following is a round-up of London-listed company director and manager changes announced on Monday and in recent weeks and not separately reported by Alliance News:

Oberon Investments Group PLC - London-based boutique investment management, wealth planning and corporate broking - Hires Barry Smead to be head of Investment Management. Smead will lead the Investment Management division alongside Chief Investment Officer Phil Smeaton. Smead was most recently chief operating officer of Investment Management at JM Finn & Co Ltd, prior to which he worked at Hermes Fund Managers and Invesco Perpetual. Oberon last week said it hired Peter Martin and colleague Jake Bambridge from Odey Asset Management. Martin will launch a new global equities fund for Oberon and Bambridge will be funds operations manager.

Defence Holdings PLC - London-based software platform for defence applications - Hires Andrew McCartney as chief technology officer, starting on Monday. McCartney is a former chief executive officer of Microsoft Ventures UK and co-founded Belfast-based Whitespace Global Ltd, which develops artificial intelligence capabilities for the defence, public sector, and highly regulated industries. Defence Holdings and Whitespace last week said they have formed a partnership to co-develop AI applications for defence and national security use.

Walker Crips Group PLC - London-based stock broker - Sanath Dandeniya resigns as finance director, leaving on January 3. He has been with Walker Crips since 2016. The company has started to look for a new finance director. Walker Crips has made a series of changes at the top in recent months. It appointed Jo Wellman as chair at the end of March, replacing Martin Wright. Last month, Christian Dougal moved up from chief risk officer to joint CEO alongside Sean Lam. Earlier this month, Walker Crips said it swung to a pretax loss of GBP3.3 million in the financial year that ended March 31 from profit of GBP387,000 the year prior.

Seed Innovations Ltd - investing company - Hires Jim Mellon as non-executive chair and Denham Eke as non-executive director, as Ed McDermott and Alfredo Pascual leave the board. Mellon, a 20% shareholder in Seed Innovations, replaces Interim Chair Luke Cairns, who remains on the board as senior independent non-executive director. The company last week launched a tender offer at 2.2 pence per share to return up GBP1.9 million to shareholders. The stock is quoted at 2.50p on Monday. Last month, it announced a new investing policy focused on robotics and AI.

Vaultz Capital PLC - London-based digital asset network infrastructure - Hires Aleks Nowak as its non-board chief operating officer, starting on Friday last week. Nowak was founder & chief information officer of BlockEx, a digital asset platform. Nowak also was an officer in the British Army and worked in maritime security.

Maintel Holdings PLC - London-based communications services for the UK public and private sectors - Hires Sarah Roberts as COO, joining the company on July 29. Roberts has worked in telecommunications for Motorola Solutions Inc and Vodafone Group PLC, among other companies. On July 29, Maintel also provided a trading update, reporting adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation of GBP3.4 million in the six months that ended June 30, down from GBP4.8 million a year before, on GBP46.5 million in revenue, steady from GBP46.6 million. The reduced earnings were due to higher employer costs and investment in marketing and technology.
