LONDON (Alliance News) - Empiric Student Property PLC said Thursday it has appointed former Barratt Developments PLC Finance Director Mark Pain as its non-executive chairman.
Pain will join the company at the start of September, when current Acting Non-Executive Chairman Stuart Beevor will return to his role as a non-executive director.
Pain, Empiric noted, is an accountant who spent 16 years at Abbey National PLC in various senior roles, including as finance chief, a position he held at FTSE 100-listed housebuilder Barratt for five years.
Beevor commented: "Following a very thorough and independent appointment process, the board has agreed that Mark is the right candidate to become Empiric Student Property's chairman.
"We are confident with Mark's strong financial, customer and shareholder focus and his wealth of board experience, he will make a significant contribution to the future success of the group."
Shares in the company were 0.3% lower Thursday at a price of 94.62 pence each.
