eServGlobal's HomeSend Joint Venture Teams With Azimo

21st Jul 2015 13:28

LONDON (Alliance News) - eServGlobal Ltd Tuesday said that its HomeSend joint venture with MasterCard and BICS is teaming up with online money transfer company Azimo on new mobile wallet services in ten countries in the Africa and Asia-Pacific regions.

The partnership means that Azimo customers will be able to send money to a recipient's mobile phone account linked to their phone number.

Sending money to mobile phones is intended as an alternative to using over-the-counter agent or transferring funds directly to a bank account.

"We've seen an increased desire for people to be able to safely send funds via mobile money accounts," HomeSend Chief Executive Stephen Doyle said in a statement.

"This form of money transfer has gained particular popularity due to its convenience, security, competitive pricing and near-instant delivery times," Doyle added.

Michael Kent, Azimo's founder and chief executive, said the tie-up is a "major step" in the company's story.

"Azimo is focused on being the universal digital platform for remittances. With cash payout, direct to bank account, mobile top-up and even home delivery money services in over 200 countries, we already have the most comprehensive network of any digital player," Kent said in a statement.

eServGlobal shares were down 2.9% at 17.00 pence in London on Tuesday afternoon.
