eServGlobal Chairman Resigns To Focus On Mining Services Role

3rd Mar 2014 09:30

LONDON (Alliance News) - eServGlobal Ltd Monday said Chairman Richard Mathews has resigned sooner than expected, meaning Non-Executive Director Steve Balwin has been appointed as acting chairman until a successor is found.

In a statement, the mobile payments company said Mathews had to "accelerate his resignation" because of his increased work load as chief executive and managing director of RungePincockMinarco, a mining services company which is publicly traded on the Australian Securities Exchange.

"Richard's guidance and leadership has been instrumental in eServGlobal becoming a market leading technology provider in a rapidly growing market. His achievements at eServGlobal will contribute to the company's success for years to come. We wish him ongoing success in his new venture," Paolo Montessori, chief executive and managing director, said in a statement.

On February 4, eServGlobal had said it had requested an external recruitment firm to search for a new chairman based in the UK and with a "deep background and understanding of the global financial services and payments industry".

eServGlobal shares were Monday quoted at 52.00 pence, down 1.25 pence, or 2.4%.
