LONDON (Alliance News) - Mineral exploration company Erris Resources PLC said Thursday it is "excited" by the first drill results from its drilling programme at County Sligo in Ireland.
The company said the results confirmed that the mineralisation of the old Abbeytown zinc mine continues south of the current workings.
"These results have also opened up new targets in the shale horizons at depth which were not previously considered prospective," Chief Executive Officer Merlin Marr-Johnson said.
The diamond drilling programme is designed to "test strike and depth extensions of the mineralisation away from the old mine".
The company said it intersected strong mineralisation within basal shale for the first time. In one hole the company encountered high grade zinc, lead and silver mineralisation.
Erris Resources shares were trading down 5.9% at 12.00 pence each.
