(Alliance News) - Energean Oil & Gas PLC on Friday said it had changed its name to Energean PLC after obtaining shareholder approval.
The company's annual general meeting took place on Thursday last week, where shareholders approved the change.
Energean stressed that it remains strongly committed to sustainable development in spite of the Covid-19 pandemic and is building on its December commitment to become a net-zero carbon emitter by 2050.
Energean's first target will be to achieve a 70% carbon emission reduction by 2022, at which point is expects to have delivered first gas from its flagship Karish gas development in offshore Israel. It also expects to have integrated Edison E&P SpA's gas-weighted portfolio by that point, following its planned Edison E&P acquisition.
Shares in Energean were down 2.0% at 543.00 pence in London on Friday midday.
