(Alliance News) - Energean PLC on Monday said it has suspend production at its Israeli floating offshore facility following an order of the country's Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure.
The order came on Saturday after the US and Israel launched an attack on Iran. Energean also noted broader "geopolitical escalation in the region".
The hydrocarbon exploration company, which also has assets in Egypt, Italy, Greece and Croatia, started to produce natural gas from its Karish site, some 90 kilometres off the coast of Israel, in 2022.
It added that it is maintaining a "close dialogue" with the Israeli governmental and other stakeholders "to facilitate the safe resumption of production as soon as possible".
Energean shares were up 0.6% to 898.00 pence each in London on Monday morning.
