Empyrean Energy To Restart Production Testing At Dempsey 1-15 Well

8th Mar 2018 13:33

LONDON (Alliance News) - Oil & gas company Empyrean Energy PLC said on Thursday that production testing of the Dempsey 1-15 well in the Sacramento Basin, onshore California, will restart in March following review of all results and data collected to date.

The new programme will allow for earlier than planned testing of shallower zones exhibiting extensive gas shows and higher porosity, giving a grater chance of flowing without stimulation and preserving the opportunity for more testing and stimulation of all zones in the well.

Operator Sacgasco Ltd will soon start operations to access two shallower gas-filled reservoir sandal, known as Zone 3, which covers a gross interval of gas shows over 400 feet, which is expected to have better porosity than the currently producing interval zone 2.

"We look forward to testing operations re-commencing at Dempsey following an extensive technical review process. We have worked closely with Sacgasco, the operator of the well, to review the existing data, results and views of independent consultants. We are delighted to have reached consensus on forward operations that allow imminent testing of further prospective zones whilst maintaining the flexibility to revisit any zone at a later date to produce, re-evaluate or stimulate if required," said Chief Executive Officer Tom Kelly.

Shares in Empyrean Energy were down 0.2% at 12.12 pence on Thursday.
