Empire Metals begins Pitfield exploration field work ahead of schedule

23rd Nov 2022 17:10

(Alliance News) - Empire Metals Ltd on Wednesday said it has commenced exploration field work at Pitfield, Australia, ahead of schedule.

Kidderminster, England-based Empire Metals is an exploration and resource development company.

Empire Metals said field activities at the Pitfield Copper Project will include geological surface mapping and soil sampling.

The project will focus on areas that were previously "under-explored by major mining companies", and that will "add significantly" to Empire Metals' understanding of the size and nature of this potential copper province.

Pitfield has the potential to contain multiple sediment-hosted stratabound copper deposits across a 40 kilometre North-South magnetic anomaly, Empire Metals said.

Further exploration field work, including IP surveying, is expected to continue in the first quarter of 2023, ahead of an intended drill programme to evaluate the "economic significance" of any sediment-hosted stratabound copper deposit.

"We expect that the results from our current programme will significantly expand the areas of high discovery potential ahead of completing surface IP surveys to identify drill targets beneath the surface metal anomalies," Managing Director Shaun Bunn said.

Empire Metals shares closed up 4.6% at 1.83 pence on Wednesday in London.
