LONDON (Alliance News) - Emmerson PLC on Monday said it completed an environmental baseline study for its Khemisset potash project in Morocco which showed "no areas of concern" that could impact the scale, location, cost, or profitability of the project.
The study, undertaken by Moroccan environmental consultants, Phenixa SARL and overseen by international consultants OTEBA Pty Ltd, moves the project closer to production, Emmerson added.
"We are delighted with the successful completion of the environmental baseline study, the results of which show there are no environmental or social red flags which could impact our planned accelerated development schedule," Chief Executive Officer Hayden Locke said.
"The completion of the baseline study is an important step forward and allows us to continue to rapidly advance the project while minimising the potential for adverse social and environmental impacts in the future."
Emmerson shares were trading up 5.7% at 3.70 pence each.
