(Alliance News) - EMIS Group PLC said Monday its EMIS Health unit has been awarded a place on the NHS GP IT Futures Framework.
The GP IT Futures Framework is to govern the provision of the clinical IT systems and services to general practitioners in England.
The framework will replace GP Systems of Choice, the current contractual framework in operation, and will commence at the start of 2020 up until March 2023.
Payments for most services under the new framework will be according to the number of patients covered, rather than the number of practices served.
EMIS - which provides healthcare software and services - said the award of its place on the framework is a positive development, expected to produce broader consistent payments for product capabilities, and new opportunities.
The awarding of the place on the framework, is subject to the completion of a ten-day standstill period, and approval for EMIS's products and services to be placed on the NHS Digital Buying Catalogue.
The catalogue is the online platform through which clinical IT systems will be acquired under the framework.
"We are pleased to have been awarded a place on the new GP IT Futures framework. We are now focused on completing the catalogue approval process, which should allow EMIS Health to continue providing joined-up technology to the NHS market for years to come, while positioning the group positively for the future with potential growth opportunities for both EMIS Web and the broader EMIS Group portfolio," said EMIS Chief Executive Officer Andy Thorburn.
Shares in EMIS - which is headquartered in Leeds, UK - were up 8.1% at 1,054.00 pence on Monday in London.
