EMIS Raises Total Dividend As Pretax Profit Rises

20th Mar 2014 12:38

LONDON (Alliance News) - EMIS Group PLC raised its total dividend for 2013 as pretax profit rose, driven by the roll-out of its EMIS Web product, although the rise in revenue was offset by higher staff costs and operating expenses.

The healthcare software and services company posted a total dividend of 16.0 pence, up from 14.2 pence in the previous year.

Pretax profit rose slightly to GBP24.6 million from GBP24.1 million, as revenue rose to GBP105.5 million from GBP86.3 million, hampered by higher staff costs and operating expenses, as well as a GBP6.1 million charge for the amortisation of intangible assets.

Revenue growth was primarily driven by the roll-out of the company's EMIS Web software system for General practitioners and other medical professionals.

In the company's Community Pharmacy business revenue was booted by the cross-selling of additional services it acquired with Multepos Computer Systems Ltd in January 2013, including a one off GBP1.6 million revenue from the roll our of an electronic prescription services.

In its Secondary and Specialist Care the company's acquisitions of Digital Healthcare Ltd and Ascribe Group performed well.

EMIS said that it continues to trade in line with expectations, as the improved profit performance and strong revenue visibility it saw in the second-half of 2013 continued into 2014, driven by the growth of EMIS Web.

As a result of this trading performance, and the benefits of its acquisitions, the company expressed confidence for further progress in 2014.

Shares in EMIS were trading up 3.6% at 601.00 pence Thursday morning.
