EMED Mining Receives Rio Tinto Mine Environmental Authorisation

1st Apr 2014 12:39

LONDON (Alliance News) - EMED Mining PLC Tuesday said it has received unified environmental authorisation for its Rio Tinto Copper Project in Spain.

On Friday, the company said that the Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning had announced the signing of the Unified Environmental Authorisation in relation to the Rio Tinto Mine and it was awaiting the formal receipt it received Tuesday.

The Rio Tinto Copper project, formerly owned by Rio Tinto PLC, is a key focus for EMED. At its full-year results last week the company said that its near-term priority was to start product on the project.

The open-pit mine has ore reserves totalling 606,000 tonnes of contained copper and a large processing facility that has been on care and maintenance since 2001.

EMED Mining shares were down 2.5% to 10.24 pence Tuesday.
