LONDON (Alliance News) - EMED Mining PLC Thursday said it has received a key document towards the development of its Rio Tinto Copper Project in Spain.
The Europe-based minerals development and exploration company said The Ministry of Environment of the Government of Andalusia issued the Dictamen Ambiental for the site on 19 February.
The company said the release is a significant milestone in the completion of the approval process for the company's Unified Environmental Plan.
The Dictamen Ambiental contains draft conditions which are to be included in the final environmental plan.
The company said its team and consulting experts will analyse the dictamen conditions and identify any which may need to be discussed with the environmental department during a ten day interested party viewing period.
EMED announced in January that it had received a positive environmental 'compatibility report' for the site from the Andalusian government and was moving forward with its development plans.
The open-pit mine, formerly owned by Rio Tinto, has ore reserves totalling 606,000 tonnes of contained copper and a large processing facility that has been on care and maintenance since 2001.
EMED Mining shares were up 10.8% to 10.80 pence, putting it in the top three AIM risers in early trading Thursday.
