(Alliance News) - Specialty chemicals firm Elementis PLC on Tuesday said it has hired John O'Higgins as a non-executive director, effective immediately.
The FTSE 250-listed company said O'Higgins will succeed Nick Salmon as a senior independent director, when Salmon resigns from the board in April.
O'Higgins is currently a non-executive director of chemicals company Johnson Matthey PLC and Oxford Nanopore Technologies Ltd. Oxford Nanopore is an Oxford University spin-out focused on nanopore-based electronic molecular analysis systems.
He was previously chief executive of measuring devices manufacturer Spectris PLC, a role he was in from 2006 until 2018.
"John is well regarded both as a non-executive and as an accomplished executive. His business insights and experience, particularly of growing a company with an international manufacturing presence, will help build on the solid foundations at Elementis as we seek to deliver superior, sustainable returns from our growth strategy," said Elementis Chair Andrew Duff.
Shares in Elementis - which has offices across Europe and America - were up 4.2% at 133.30 pence each on Tuesday morning in London.
