Electrocomponents Hires Former Financial Times CEO Fairhead As Chair

6th Oct 2020 10:06

(Alliance News) - Electrocomponents PLC on Monday said Rona Fairhead will succeed Peter Johnson as chair.

The FTSE 250-listed distributor of industrial and electronics products stated Fairhead will join the board on November 1 as a non-executive director and will become chair on February 1, with Johnson stepping down as chair & director on that date.

Electrocomponents said Fairhead "brings a tremendous range of commercial and strategic experience to the company" having been chair & chief executive officer of the Financial Times Group, chief financial officer of publisher Pearson PLC, as well as non-executive director at bank HSBC Holdings PLC, soft drink manufacturer PepsiCo Inc and the Economist Group. She is currently a non-executive director of technology company Oracle Corp.

Commenting on the board change, Chief Executive Lindsley Ruth said: "I would like to thank Peter for his great work with the board in the time that he has served as chair, and for the support he has given me since I joined as chief executive in 2015. I would like to welcome Rona to the group and very much look forward to working with her."

Shares in Electrocomponents were trading 0.8% lower at 724.50 pence each on Tuesday morning in London.
