(Alliance News) - Eland Oil & Gas PLC said Wednesday it has made progress on its Gbetiokun-3 well in licence OML40, offshore Nigeria with the installation of a remedial tubing patch.
In late June, Eland said it had been carrying out remedial work on the Gbetiokun-3 short string. The well has first drilled as an appraisal well in the fourth quarter of 2018, with completion on the D9000 and E4000 reservoirs being installed in the first quarter of 2019.
However, during pressure testing, there was a small leak on the more shallow D9000 completion string, which was located after further diagnostic logging, leading to a remedial tubing patch being installed.
Currently, the short string is being produced with the temporary facilities on location. Initial gross rates of 3,880 barrels of oil per day has been recorded.
Meanwhile, the deep E4000 interval was tested in the first quarter and achieved gross rates of 3,000 barrels of oil per day, in line with pre-drill expectations.
Looking ahead, Eland expects the field to be brought onstream in July through its early production facility, with initial gross production at 12,000 barrels per day from the Gbetiokun-1 and Gbetiokun-3 wells.
"We are pleased to have successfully completed the remedial work on Gbetiokun-3 and are very happy with the achieved flow-rates of almost 7,000 bopd. With Gbetiokun-1 performance already established at over 5,000 bopd, we look forward to updating all shareholders as we bring the field on stream later this month," said Chief Executive Officer George Maxwell.
Shares in Eland Oil & Gas were up 3.1% at 127.00 pence on Wednesday.
