Eland Oil & Gas Appoints George Maxwell CEO, Louis Castro As CFO

8th Sep 2014 08:08

LONDON (Alliance News) - Nigeria and West Africa-focused oil company Eland Oil & Gas PLC Monday said George Maxwell has been appointed as its new chief executive with immediate effect.

Maxwell is the former chief financial officer at the company and, prior to joining Eland, he worked as general manager for Addax Petroleum, a unit of Chinese oil and gas company Sinopec, in Nigeria.

Les Blair, the incumbent chief executive, will now step down from the board of the company and take on a new role as strategic advisor, Eland said.

Maxwell's replacement as chief financial officer will be Louis Castro, a former non-executive director of the company and chair of its audit committee. He most recently worked as the managing director of Northland Capital Partners Ltd, the investment bank.

Eland shares were down 0.5% to 102.00 pence in early trade on Monday.
