EKF Diagnostics Closing Florida Manufacturing Site To Cut Costs

12th Nov 2015 10:06

LONDON (Alliance News) - EKF Diagnostics Holdings PLC on Thursday said it consolidated its US manufacturing sites and will close its Sanford unit in Florida.

The site, which makes centrifuges and hematocrit analysers, will close in the first quarter of 2016 as part of plans by EKF to cut operating costs.

Production will be transferred to EKF's Boerne plant in Texas. It will seek to retain key staff where possible.

"As we announced in our interim report in September, the senior management team is committed to continuing the process of integrating the group's manufacturing facilities. The closure of the Sanford site allows us to concentrate our production within one US site and benefit from the associated savings in operational costs," said Julian Baines, EKF's chief executive.

EKF shares were down 0.9% to 14.50 pence on Thursday.
