Edinburgh Investment Trust Outperforms Benchmark Over Half-Year

13th Nov 2014 16:02

LONDON (Alliance News) - The Edinburgh Investment Trust PLC Thursday said its net asset value total return significantly outperformed its benchmark over the half-year to end of September.

The UK investment trust is invested primarily in UK securities.

In a statement, the trust said it produced a net asset value total return of 5% with debt at face value, and 4.8% with debt at market value.

By comparison, its benchmark, the FTSE All-Share Index total return was 1.2%.

"The share price total return for the period was 4.6%," the trust said.

It said its share price at September 30 was 607.5 pence, an increase of 2.3% from the year end share price of 594.0 pence.

The company said its portfolio continues to be concentrated in a relatively small number of sectors, such as tobacco and pharmaceuticals, are the main drivers of its relative investment performance.

Shares in The Edinburgh Investment Trust were trading 0.5% higher at 638.88 pence Thursday afternoon.
