LONDON (Alliance News) - Sustainable crop protection and animal health firm Eden Research PLC said Thursday a commercial partner has secured first sales of nematicide Cedroz in Italy following temporary authorisation in late April.
In late April, Cedroz - which is marketed in Italy by Eastman Chemical Co - was granted "emergency use" authorisation in Italy for 120 days allowing it to be sold by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture.
Emergency use authorisations are allowed by European Union countries in cases where local regulatory authorities judge that the products are needed in the local market in the absence of suitable alternatives.
"We are pleased to see initial sales of Cedroz this early in the year following the derogation in Italy just a few weeks ago," Eden Chief Executive Officer Sean Smith said. "Eastman has seized upon this earlier-than-anticipated opportunity to launch Cedroz in order to fully develop the market for this important product, and Eden has been more than happy to support them in their efforts to move the product to commercial use as quickly as possible."
Shares in Eden were 3.3% higher at 11.26 pence on Thursday.
