LONDON (Alliance News) - Eden Research PLC Tuesday said that it has been granted a patent from the Korean Patent Office for its mite treatment encapsulation technology known as GO-E Inside.
In a statement, AIM-listed Eden said that the patent covers its core technology, which is a method of killing mites which infest plants.
"The patent coverage in South Korea follows the Mexican patent that was awarded back in May, and is another extension of our valuable portfolio of patent protection globally," Managing Director Clive Newitt said in a statement.
"We are delighted to move into South Korea as it is a large market for us to penetrate with a number of interesting opportunities particular in the area of fungicides for agricultural use, which is worth over USD200.0 million in South Korea alone focussing on produce such as rice, and key fruit and vegetables," Newitt added.
The company now has 46 granted patents.
Eden shares were Tuesday quoted at 7.90 pence, up 3.6%.
