LONDON (Alliance News) - Low-cost airline easyJet PLC said Thursday that its passenger numbers and load factor rose in May, and on a 12-month rolling basis.
easyJet flew 6.1 million passengers in May, up 7.9% from the 5.6 million passengers flown in May last year and its load factor for the month - a measure of how many seats it fills on its planes - was up 1.3% to 89.4% from 88.1% in the comparable month.
On a 12-month rolling basis, passenger numbers to May 2014 were up 4.6% to 62.8 million from 60.0 million recorded in May last year. Load factor for the 12-month period was also up, coming in at 89.9% from 89.2% in May 2013.
Since easyJet is a no-refund airline, it noted that earned seats include those that are flown whether or not the passenger turns up. Earned seats also include seats provided for promotional purposes and to staff for business travel.
Shares in the airline last traded at 1,591 pence per share.
