LONDON (Alliance News) - Low-cost airline easyJet PLC said Thursday that it flew over 4 million passengers and improved its load factor in January, continuing its steady ascent after reporting strong Q1 figures during the month.
The airline flew 4,021,678 passengers during January, up 3.7% on the 3,878,640 passengers flown in January 2013.
easyJet said that load factor during the month also increased, up 1% to 85.4%.
On a rolling 12 months basis, for the period to January 2014, easyJet flew 61,475,841 passengers, up 3.6% from 59,354,758 passengers. For the same period, easyJet's load factor rose by 0.5% ro 89.4%.
The company reported a 7.7% rise in total revenue to GBP897 million in its interim management statement January 23 2014 for the first quarter. The company noted that revenue per seat grew as expected by 3.4% on a reported basis to GBP55.71 per seat or by 1.4% at constant currency despite strong prior year comparators from post-Olympic trading in the UK and a challenging competitive environment.
easyJet shares were trading up 0.54% at 1,670 pence per share shortly after the market open Thursday.
