(Alliance News) - DX Group PLC on Monday said it opened a new depot in Dartford, Kent to expand its DX Express and Freight divisions and invest in its delivery network.
The Slough, England-based parcel freight, secure courier and logistics company said the new depot covers over 28,000 square feet and is located on a 1.2-acre site in Edisons Park, Dartford.
DX continued that the new depot will allow the company to expand its DX Express division, which specialises in secure, next-day document and parcel delivery, and its freight operations at DX Freight.
DX Express's existing team consisting of around 80 employees at Swanley in Kent will relocate to the new site, while DX Freight will expand its operations at Swanley into the space vacated by DX Express, it said.
The company added that it expects to expand both teams as they build volumes.
The opening of the Dartford site is part of DX's ongoing investment in its delivery network. Over 12 additional depots are planned to be added to the network over the next two years.
In January, the company said that it launched a capital investment programme worth between GBP20 million and GBP25 million over the next three years. The capital will drive improvements in parcel-handling equipment and IT infrastructure across the firm, DX said.

We are committed to driving improvements across both of the group's divisions, and this new site will enable us to increase the capacity and service levels of both Express and Freight in the South East of England. Our investment in the business continues, with more than 12 further sites planned to be added to our network over the next two years," Chief Executive Lloyd Dunn said.
