(Alliance News) - DX Group PLC on Monday said it was looking forward to further expansion following the launch of its new parcel depot, the first of eight it expects to open this financial year.
The Slough, England-based parcel freight, secure courier and logistics provider said its new parcel depot, which is located in Essex, England, will be exclusively dedicated to secure, next-day delivery of parcels and documents for business-to-business and business-to-consumer customers.
The depot will mainly serve the Southend and Chelmsford areas, complementing DX Express' pre-existent depot in Harlow.
It will not only increase the division's parcel capacity, DX Group said, but provide customers with more localised support.
The company said it had been investing significantly to support the long-term growth of its two divisions, DX Express and DX Freight. It is currently in the second year of a GBP20 to GBP25 million group-wide investment programme.
"The new depot in Basildon is the first of eight new DX Express sites planned for this financial year. They will help to support the continuing growth of our parcels service, with the new site reinforcing our presence in Essex," said Managing Director Martin Illidge.
"An important element in growing our parcels operation has been our model of providing a high-quality, more localised and personal service, and we look forward to further expansion, which the group is supporting with significant new investment."
DX Group's financial year ends on July 1, 2023.
DX Group shares were trading 0.7% higher at 23.77 pence each in London on Monday afternoon.
