DX Group opens two new UK depots to expand DX Freight arm

14th Sep 2022 14:00

(Alliance News) - DX Group PLC on Wednesday said it has opened two new depots, one in Paisley, Scotland and one in West Bromwich in the West Midlands, to help expand its DX Freight division.

The Slough, England-based parcel freight, secure courier and logistics provider said that Paisley depot covers around 22,000 square feet and is located on a 2.3 acre site.

It explained that the depot will drive increased volumes and service levels to the west of Glasgow, as well as freeing up capacity at the company's existing depot in Motherwell on the south-eastern side of Glasgow.

The West Bromwish depot, which is 37,000 square feet on a 1.3 acre site, will support DX's depot in Cannock, the company noted.

"The new sites will support the continuing growth of the group's Freight division, which provides parcel freight services to both business and residential addresses and specialises in the delivery of irregular dimension and weight freight," DX added.

In its financial year ended 2 July 2022, DX Freight revenue grew by 15%, significantly ahead of initial management targets.

The opening of the new sites is part of DX's ongoing investment in its delivery network.

In January, the company said that it launched a capital investment programme worth between GBP20 million and GBP25 million over the next three years. The capital will drive improvements in parcel-handling equipment and IT infrastructure across the firm, DX said.

DX Freight Managing Director Paul Ibbetson said: "We are pleased to have opened two new DX Freight depots in Paisley and West Bromwich, taking the total number opened in 2022 to five. The sites boost capacity and enhance service levels in their respective regions. We plan further sites openings as well as major upgrades to existing sites as we scale our delivery network to support the group's ongoing growth."

DX Group shares are suspended, last traded at 30.00 pence per share.
