Mason has been chief financial officer of fellow FTSE 250 constituent Halfords PLC since 2015, having been interim chief executive officer between September 2017 and January 2018.
"I am delighted to have Jonny by my side. He has an outstanding track record and brings the experience and qualities we need to take Dixons Carphone into the next phase of its transformation," said Alex Baldock, incoming Dixons Carphone CEO.
Halfords on Tuesday confirmed Mason has resigned from the business to take up the position at Dixons, but will stay in his role at the cycling and leisure retailer until the end of his notice period in September.
"We are grateful to Jonny for the positive impact he has made across the business and the crucial role he played as Interim Chief Executive prior to Graham Stapleton joining Halfords as CEO in January," said Halfords Chairman Dennis Millard.
Halfords said it has commenced the process to identify his successor.
Additionally, Halfords on Tuesday said underlying pretax profit for its year ending Friday is expected in line with current market forecasts. It expects to report its results on May 22.
