DIRECTOR DEALINGS SUMMARY: Merlin CFO Sells GBP3.4 Million In Shares

LONDON (Alliance News) - The following is a summary of director dealings reported in London on Friday.

Merlin Entertainments said Chief Financial Officer Andrew Carr sold around GBP3.4 million worth of shares ahead of his impending retirement.

Carr sold 750,000 shares at 456.34 pence each on Thursday, reducing his holding to 2.1 million shares or a 0.206% stake.

Last month, Merlin said Carr will retire in 2016 having been CFO since 1999 and will remain in the post until a successor is appointed.

Shares in the theme park and attractions operator closed up 1.1% at 456.10p Friday.

Pearson said its new chairman, Sidney Taurel, made his first purchase in the education and publishing group.

Taurel, the former chief executive officer and chairman of American pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly and Co, marked his arrival at Pearson by purchasing 50,000 American Depositary Receipts at USD12.01 each on Wednesday, which is his only holding.

One ADR equals one ordinary share.

Taurel assumed the role in January having succeeded Glen Moreno, who stepped down at the end of 2015 after more than a decade as Pearson's chairman.

Pearson ordinary shares closed up 1.7% at 871.40 pence Friday.

Virgin Money Holdings said Chief Banking Officer Richard Hemsley sold 49,434 shares at a price of GBP3.8079 per share on Thursday. The deal was worth about GBP152,000 gross. His remaining shareholding was undisclosed. The lender on Wednesday said its pretax profit surged in 2015 as it performed ahead of the wider market for mortgages, savings and credit card growth. In it first set of full-year results since floating in late 2014, the FTSE 250 company said its pretax profit for the year to the end of December increased to GBP138.0 million from GBP34.0 million a year earlier, helped by higher income and one-off costs it booked the year prior on its listing in London and the acquisition of mortgage lender Northern Rock. The stock closed up 0.9% at 381.50p Friday.

House builder Persimmon said Non-Executive Director Rachel Kentleton bought 1,268 shares at 1,992p each and now holds 2,741 shares. The stock closed down 0.3% at 1,991.39p Friday

BBA Aviation said Chairman Nigel Rudd acquired a total of 13,250 shares at a price of 202.475 pence per share on Friday. Rudd now holds a total beneficial holding of 221,450 shares. Shares in the aviation support company closed up 8.1% at 207.70p Friday.
