LONDON (Alliance News) - The following is a summary of director dealings reported in London on Thursday.

WPP said Chairman Roberto Quarta bought 13,200 shares at a price of 1,339 pence per share. The GBP176,748 purchase is his only holding.
The FTSE 100-listed media buying giant had on Wednesday posted a sharp rise in pretax profit for its first half, boosted by exceptional gains and an improved operating performance, and reiterated guidance of net sales growth of over 3% for 2015.
Quarta joined the WPP board on January 1 and became chairman following its annual general meeting June 9, succeeding Philip Lader.
Quarta also is chairman of FTSE 100 medical devices company Smith & Nephew but he has stepped down as chairman of FTSE 250-listed engineering business IMI. Previously, he was chief executive and then chairman of BBA Group, chairman of Rexel and a non-executive director of BAE Systems, Equant, Foster Wheeler and PowerGen.
WPP shares closed up 2.2% at 1,339.28p Thursday.

Smith & Nephew said Non-Executive Director Vinita Bali bought 1,200 American depository shares at a price of USD34.23 each on Wednesday. Following this transaction, Bali now holds 2,493 American depository shares in the medical devices company. The stock closed up 2.9% at 1,119.68p Thursday.

Hikma Pharmaceuticals said Non-Executive Director Pamela Kirby bought 3,317 shares at a price of 2,264 pence per share on Thursday. The purchase is her only holding in the FTSE 100-listed pharmaceutical group. Shares in Hikma closed up 1.5% at 2,277.00p Thursday.

Miner Rio Tinto said Non-Executive Director Megan Clark bought 1,000 shares at a price of AUD47.90 each Wednesday. Clark's holding is now 2,715 shares. The stock closed up 4.7% at 2,303.27 pence in London, one of the strongest performers in the FTSE 100.

Phaunos Timber Fund said that Non-Executive Independent Director William Weeks Vanderfelt bought 100,000 shares at a price of USD0.3400 per share on Thursday. Vanderfelt also bought 550,000 shares at a price of USD0.3425 per share on Tuesday. Following this transaction, Vanderfelt holds 7.5 million shares, representing a 1.32% stake in the trust. Shares closed down 4.0% at USD0.322 Thursday.

International Biotechnology Trust said Non-Executive Director Véronique Bouchet bought 2,500 shares at a price of 493.5 pence per share Wednesday. Following this transaction, Bouchet's holding increased to 7,500 shares, representing 0.02% of the issued share capital. The stock closed up 6.6% at 535.00p Thursday.
