LONDON (Alliance News) - Restaurant, pub & bar operator Mitchells & Butlers PLC said Chief Executive Officer Phil Urban purchased 16,094 shares in the company on Thursday at 247.21 pence each, worth GBP39,786.
Urban's total holding in the company was undisclosed.
Shares in Mitchells & Butlers closed down 6.2% at 241.40p each on Thursday.
Mitchells & Butlers also said Thursday that England's prolonged success in the World Cup and sustained hot weather resulted in strong growth in drink sales but hurt food sales.
Drink sales for the 43 weeks to Saturday last week grew 2.5% but food sales rose only marginally by 0.3%. Total sales rose 1.3%.
