DIRECTOR DEALINGS: Glencore Chairman Tony Hayward Buys Shares

30th Sep 2015 16:31

LONDON (Alliance News) - Glencore PLC on Wednesday said Chairman Tony Hayward acquired 100,000 shares in the company for 90.89 pence per share.

The multi-commodities miner and trading house did not state Hayward's stake following the purchase. Hayward also is the chairman of oil and gas company Genel Energy PLC and was the chief executive of oil major BP PLC when the Gulf of Mexico oil spill occurred in 2010.

Glencore shares closed up 14% to 91.55p on Wednesday, the best performer in the FTSE 100, after it defended its financial position and strength following concerns raised in recent days that it could wilt under its debt pile given the decline in commodities prices.
