(Alliance News) - Distiller Diageo PLC said on Monday Chair Javier Ferran bought shares in the Smirnoff vodka maker a day after the FTSE 100 constituent released its annual results.
Ferran, on Friday last week, bought 30,000 shares in Diageo at a price of 3,284.50 pence each. The transaction had a total value of GBP985,350. His stake in the company, if any, following the purchase was not disclosed.
On Thursday last week, Diageo reported annual profit growth ahead of market expectations and said it will return a further GBP4.5 billion to shareholders.
The market expected Diageo to post organic operating profit growth for financial 2019 of 8.7%. The company on Thursday beat consensus after reporting organic operating profit growth of 9.0% to GBP4.04 billion.
On the Thursday Diageo released its results, the stock closed down 3.1%. On Monday, shares in Diageo were trading 2.7% higher at 3,411.00p.
