LONDON (Alliance News) - Directa Plus PLC on Wednesday said the first ever resurfacing of a road using a graphene product has just taken place in Italy.
Shares in the graphene product company were up 28% at 51.00 pence on Wednesday.
The resurfacing was done using Ecopave, which is based on Directa's Graphene Plus product and is fully recyclable. Ecopave is intended to increase the safety, efficiency, and environmental sustainability of a road surface.
Directa, which produces and supplies graphene-based products, said this road surfacing forms part of a commercial test of Ecopave.
"This application is perfectly in line with our values, enabling us to help to create roads that last longer thanks to our Graphene Plus family of products. It is another example of the wide application of Graphene Plus technology into large established markets where we can materially improve product performance," said Chief Executive Giulio Cesareo.
"The Ecopave opportunity is substantial and we look forward to a time when motor vehicles with tyres containing Graphene Plus drive on roads surfaced with tarmacs containing Graphene Plus."
