(Alliance News) - Directa Plus PLC said Monday it will continue to operate its core business in Italy as it is exempt from the government's production halt.
Shares in the graphene products supplier were down 9.3% in London on Monday at 46.25 pence each.
The Italian government has closed down all productive activity that is not "strictly necessary, crucial, indispensable, to guarantee us essential goods and services."
Directa Plus is classified as a chemical company in Italy and as such is exempt from any restrictions and will continue to operate its core business.
Directa Plus said its graphene is non-toxic and its bacteriostatic properties could be used in the production of medical devices such as masks, gloves and gowns to ensure better prevention properties for the spread of the virus.
Founder & Chief Executive Giulio Cesareo said: "Medical equipment enhanced by graphene could mean a safer working environment for the health workers and all citizens. In the health industry graphene is well known for antibacterial and filtering properties and we will continue to develop protective devices using our non-toxic G+ graphene to benefit our fellow citizens during this emergency."
