(Alliance News) - Directa Plus PLC on Thursday said it has secured a key patent relating to its "unique" manufacturing process from the US Patent & Trademark Office.
The graphene nanoplatelets supplier said the new US patent covers its process for manufacturing graphene nanoplatelets using a water-based exfoliation technology.
The process is sustainable and environmentally friendly, the AIM-listed company explained, as a result of using no chemicals, solvents, or surfactants and generating zero waste. In addition, the 100% production yield means Directa Plus can manufacture products in large volumes at attractive prices.
"This grant represents a key development in launching our products into the US," said Founder & Chief Executive Giulio Cesareo.
"The sustainable nature of our production process, using no chemicals, is proving to be an attractive point of difference in negotiations with large US companies."
Directa Plus shares were trading 3.5% higher on Thursday at 85.88 pence each in London.
