(Alliance News) - Funeral services provider Dignity PLC on Tuesday said that resolution 11 at its annual general meeting, which was to authorise the board to make political donations, was only proposed to avoid the inadvertent infringement of provisions within the Companies Act 2006.
The annual general meeting was held on June 11, and resolution 11 had more than 20% of shareholders vote against it.
"It is not the company's policy to make donations to political parties, or to make other political donations within the normal meaning of that expression, and the directors have no intention of changing that policy," the group stated.
Dignity said it is continuing to engage with shareholders on the matter.
Shares in Dignity were up 0.4% at 562.00 pence on Tuesday in London.
